Mountain Riders
Welcome to the Mountain Riders Chapter. Our Chapter covers a large geographical area and contributes volunteer hours for several different public land area trails and trail heads. Mountain Riders contribution for these areas is to work toward keeping the trails clear of weather-related debris and clip back foliage from normal seasonal growth and pick up trash. Mountain Riders Chapter works closely with the area land manager to keep the trails clear for equine use. The chapter is also involved and participates in the state events.
Mountain Riders Chapter’s local trails are as follows:
- Hercules Glades Wilderness Area – 32 miles
- Glade Top – Willie Lee and Bateman Trails – 16 miles
- Bar K Wrangler – 23 miles
- Devils Backbone – 13 miles
- Ridge Runner Trail (Norfolk Lake Section) – 10 miles
- Noblett Lake Trail – 13.4 miles
While the chapter sets a schedule at the beginning of each year, much of the work is done on an on our weekly rides with the Douglas County Fox Trotters Breeders Horse Association (every Wednesday and every other Saturday).
The chapter uses email and social media (Face Book) for much of its communication method. We also hold a combined meeting most months with the Douglas County Fox Trotters Breeders Horse Association. Note: A lot of addresses are Latitude-Longitude coordinates, as they have no street address. This eliminates confusion as to where the event is located.
